August 22, 2008- Friday Morning Blitz On August 22, 2008 at approximately 10:20 hrs, District 4 fire was requested for an Engine company to assist with a large commercial fire on St. George Avenue in the Avenel Section of Woodbridge. Engine 621 was request to assist in a long 5 inch supply relay due to water main contruction in the area. Water pressure was a major problem for the initial attack companies. With the help of South Plainfield Engine 6, Highland Park Engine 37-102 and New Brunswick Engine 1 over 3,000 feet of supply hose was dropped down Route 35 (St. George Avenue). Engine 621 responded with a crew of 5 under the command of Lt. Scarpa while about 6 other member stayed back in District to cover any other District 4 calls. While returning from the assignment, Engine 621 stopped to assist at the scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash in Edison. There were no injuries. Once notification was made to the EPD, Engine 621 picked up and returned to town. While refueling, Engine 621 and station 620 were requested to respond to a CO Alarm at 25 Revere Road, bringing a busy morning to a close. All units were back in service by 14:30 hours. |
